Wednesday, August 02, 2006 - Object Desktop 2007 released!
There are lots of individual programs on the net that let you customize the way Windows looks. Some of them are pretty good...and a lot of them are not so good.
Stardock is the world's only developer of size that focuses on creating software that lets users truly personalize their Windows experience. They develop most of the top desktop enhancement programs.
Once a year, they take these programs and put them together into a single seamless package called Object Desktop 2007. These programs, when used together, can completely remake the way Windows looks and feels to YOUR preference. And it does this without slowing it down with bloat or hogging all your memory. The programs of Object Desktop are incredibly efficient, due to years of work, in system resources.
To get Object Desktop, go to www.objectdesktop.com.

Friday, November 18, 2005 - Skin Primer 2006
Stardock's Brad Wardell has gone through nearly every major Windows customization program to put together a comprehensive guide to how to customize your Windows PC.
Outside computers, people customize nearly everything about their lives to match their own needs and tastes. Yet computers, particularly Windows desktops, are amazingly uniform despite the fact people spend long hours in front of them.
Microsoft has traditionally limited the amount of customization options that come with Windows in order to keep support reasonable and ensure a Windows brand, but they have also encouraged users and developers who want to customize Windows to look for solutions to meet their needs. This guide will help guide you through those different solutions.

Sunday, September 18, 2005 - Windows Vista features unveiled
This month Microsoft unveiled the technologies behind Windows Vista. We'll be creating a sister site to support Theming Vista (maybe ThemeVista.com or VistaStyles.com, haven't decided yet).
Amongst the more interesting announcement is that Microsoft is going to support gadgets. Gadgets are mini applets that are similar to widgets (popularized by Stardock DesktopX, Konfabualtor, and Dashboard) except that Gadgets don't require any special run-time in order to use. The executable code is all within the applet.
Some Macintosh users reacted in dismay at Microsoft "stealing" their ideas. In reality, Apple, nor Konfabulator came up with this concept first (not in the modern sense). User created mini-applets got its start in 1999 with DesktopX.
